Some Bank of Ireland customers experienced problems making payments to third parties today as a result of an error, the bank has confirmed.
Customers took to social media to express their frustration at the inability to move money and some reported being unable to log into the Bank of Ireland mobile app and website.
"A number of customers did encounter an error earlier today which prevented them from making payments to 3rd parties, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused," the bank said in a statement.
"This didn't impact transfers between customer accounts, checking balances, or other customer services."
"Payments have been returning to normal over the course of the afternoon, and all payment services are operating as normal now."
In August a major outage in the bank’s IT systems left customers unable to log into the app or website.
The difficulties led to queues at ATMs as some people reported on social media that they were able to withdraw more money than they had in their accounts.
