Drinks group C&C said it expects to deliver net revenue of about €870m for the first half of its financial year, a dip of about 1% on the same time last year.

In a trading statement for the six-month period from March to the end of August, C&C said its operating profit is expected to be in the range of €29-€31m.

It said this includes the one-off profit impact associated with the Enterprise Resource Planning system implementation disruption in its GB distribution business.

Good progress has been made in resolving the issues, it added.

C&C manufactures, markets and distributes branded beer, cider, wine, spirits and soft drinks across Ireland and the UK. Its brands include Bulmers and Magners cider, Tennents and Five Lamps beer and Tipperary Water.

The company said that trading for its own brands in Ireland and Scotland was encouraging, with Net Sales Revenue for the branded business up about 6%.

It noted that trading at the start of H1 benefited from good weather, especially in June, but poor weather in July and August combined with cost-of-living pressures, particularly in the UK, resulted in a slowdown in the latter months of the period.

Patrick McMahon, C&C's chief executive, said that set against a difficult market backdrop, it was pleased with the strength of the performance of its branded businesses in Ireland and Scotland in the period.

"We are particularly pleased with the progress we have made in restoring customer service levels following the ERP system implementation issues in our GB distribution business within our planned timeframe," Mr McMahon said.

"Delivering outstanding service, winning back customers, continued business simplification and improved operating efficiency remain our top priorities and focus for the second half," he added.
