Newly qualified chartered accountants in Leinster have seen their salaries rise by 6.6% to €62,866 compared to last year.

That is according to a survey of around 1,000 chartered accountants, launched by Chartered Accountants Ireland Leinster Society in partnership with recruitment firm Barden.

The research shows that €118,578 is now the average salary package for chartered accountants working in Leinster. This figure includes base salary, car or car allowance, and bonus.

80% of respondents said they are expecting a pay raise in the next 12 months with more than 60% saying they expect to receive a bonus in 2023.

"This year's survey points to continued strong earning prospects for chartered accountants in Leinster," said Des Gibney, Chairperson of Chartered Accountants Ireland Leinster Society.

"I’m particularly pleased to note the increase at the newly qualified level," Mr Gibney said.

The survey shows that 10% of respondents are working fully remotely, while 75% have hybrid working arrangements.

"Companies that mandate five days in the office have been, and will continue to be, at a significant competitive disadvantage when trying to attract accounting talent," said Elaine Brady, Managing Partner at Barden.

"To mandate five days in the office is to effectively reduce the talent pool available to you by 85%," Ms Brady said.
