Quarterly construction production down 3.3% in Q2 - CSO

New seasonally adjusted figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the volume of production in construction fell by 3.3% between the first quarter and second quarters of this year.

On an annual basis, production volume decreased by 2.1% in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the same time last year.

The CSO said that civil engineering was the only sector to record a quarterly increase in the three months from April to June compared to the same time in 2022, increasing by 5.8%.

During the same same, Non-Residential Building declined by 3.8% and Residential Building fell by 2.3%.

On an annual basis, production volume in the Residential Building sector fell by 10.3% and was down 4% in the Non-Residential Building sector.

Civil Engineering was again the only sector to show an annual increase, rising by 22.4%, the CSO added.
