Commencement notices for 2,985 new residential units were lodged in July, according to new figures from the Department of Housing.
This represents a 22% increase on the same month last year and a 16% on June of this year.
So far this year, commencement notices for 18,546 homes have been filed, up 11.8% on the same seven months of 2022.
1,187 of the units for which notices were posted in July were in Dublin local authority areas, with 1,844 in the greater Dublin area.
527 of the homes were in Dun-Laoghaire Rathdown, with 284 in Co Wicklow.
In comparison a notice for just one new unit was lodged in Co Longford.
