New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the number of bus journeys in Dublin continued to exceed pre-pandemic figures.
The CSO's latest Transport Bulletin shows a 2% rise in bus trips for the week beginning 24 July when compared with the same week in 2019.
The number of bus journeys outside of Dublin for the week under review also exceeded 2019 figures by 10%.
Meanwhile, the CSO said that Luas journeys for the week increased by 25% and 7% in comparison to the same week in 2022 and 2019 respectively.
Today's CSO figures also show that the number of passengers at Dublin airport in July 2023 was 13% higher than July 2022, while there was no change recorded when compared with the same month in 2019 before Covid-19.
A total of 3,425,253 passengers went through Dublin airport in July of this year compared with 3,038,292 passengers in July 2019.
The figures also reveal that the number of passengers handled by Cork airport was 13% higher in July compared to the same month last years, with no change recorded when compared with numbers seen in the same month in 2019.
A total of 3,771,383 passengers were handled by Dublin, Cork and Kerry airports in July compared with 3,768,415 for the same month in 2019.
Today's CSO figures also show that the number of new cars licensed in July increased by 20% when compared with the same time last year, while there were 16 fatalities on Irish roads in July compared with 12 in July 2022 and 10 in July 2019.
