Aldi has today opened two new stores in Athenry in Co Galway and Kanturk in Co Cork as part of a €18m investment.
The two new supermarkets will create 60 permanent jobs and 160 jobs were supported during their construction.
Aldi now operates 160 stores around the country and opened five new stores so far this year.
The retailer last year reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its Irish operations, announcing two ambitious expansion plans for the West of Ireland and Dublin.
These plans will see 16 new stores across Connacht and Dublin by 2027 as part of a €135m investment, creating 490 permanent jobs with a further 900 supported during construction.
Aldi Ireland employs over 4,650 people and has outlets in each county in the Republic of Ireland.
