Electric Ireland had the cheapest standard domestic electricity tariffs available while Flogas had the most expensive Standard Electricity Plan, new figures from the Commission for Regulation of Utilities show today.
The CRU today published an information paper on the cheapest and most expensive Estimated Annual Bills (EABs) across electricity and gas suppliers.
The Commission requires suppliers to provide an estimate of the annual electricity and gas bill for the average household.
Its figures show that Electric Ireland had the cheapest standard domestic electricity tariffs with its Standard Domestic Electricity Plan at €2,023, while Flogas had the most expensive Standard Electricity Plan at €2,886.
As of June 12, SSE Airtricity had the cheapest standard domestic gas tariffs available at €1,838 for existing customers, while Flogas also had the most expensive Standard Plan at €2,699.
Meanwhile, Electric Ireland had the cheapest dual fuel standard domestic tariff available €3,933 and Flogas had the most expensive standard tariff at €5,585.
However, Flogas had the cheapest smart Time of Use (TOU) tariffs on their fixed rate smart electricity plan at €1,670.
CRU Director Karen Trant said the commission is aware of the difficult challenges that customers have been facing in the context of high energy prices.
"This paper provides consumers and other interested stakeholders with relevant information on household electricity and gas prices, with the aim of enabling an easier process for consumers to decide on the most suitable tariff for them," Karen Trant said.
"Switching suppliers or renegotiating with your current supplier can still deliver savings and it is important that customers ensure they are on the most suitable tariff for their needs," she added.
