The new Penneys store in Dundrum Town Centre in Dublin has opened following a €16 million investment by the retailer.

The move to the bigger store has created 130 new jobs, bringing the total headcount at the store to 360.

All of the employees from the former Penneys site have moved to the new location.

The investment by the retailer is part of Primark's overall commitment to invest €250 million in Ireland over the next ten years.

The new Dundrum store is located across the second and third floors of the former House of Fraser site.

It features 60,000 square feet of retail space, with 64% more shopping space that the previous site.

It also has an in-store beauty salon, a vintage and one-off clothing concession, and an expanded homeware collection.

In addition to the traditional service tills, the store has 32 self-service checkouts.

This new store is now the third biggest Penneys in Ireland, out of its 37 outlets.

"This has been a significant project for our property and retail teams, and the finished result looks incredible," said Damien O'Neill, Head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland.

"Our continued investment in our Irish business demonstrates the confidence and commitment we have in our home market, and we are proud to continue to play our part in supporting Irish cities, towns and communities," he added.

Neale Richmond, Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment with special responsibility for Business, Employment and Retail opened the store.

"In creating 130 new jobs, this new store offers an exciting career path and allows people to explore the huge variety of roles the retail sector has to offer," he added.
