Big Red Cloud chief executive Marc O'Dwyer takes over today as Chair of ISME, which represents small and medium sized firms here.

After spending two years as ISME Vice-Chair, he takes over the role from outgoing Chair Margaret O'Rourke Doherty.

Mr O'Dwyer purchased the majority share in Big Red Book in 2000 and turned it around to be cash positive. He launched Big Red Cloud in June 2012, the online version of Big Red Book.

The company has in excess of 75,000 customers and converts 55% of trials into sales, with the number of customers growing rapidly.

A keen sportsman, Mr O'Dwyer played rugby and league squash and has completed 14 marathons and several triathlons.

"I am looking forward to continuing the great work my predecessors have achieved to date, ensuring that the voice of SMEs gets not only listened to but acted upon," he said.

"SMEs are the backbone of our economy and need to be supported by Government to ensure Ireland continues to be the powerhouse it is on the world stage," he added.
