Decathlon's new store in Limerick opens at the Parkway Retail Park today.
The store is the second for the French brand in Ireland and will see 64 new jobs created in the local area.
The Limerick shop will be another flagship store for the retailer, similar to its Ballymun store in Dublin which opened in June of 2020.
It has 5,000 square metres of retail space as well as 1,500 square metres of zones where sports can be experienced.
These will include a football pitch, basketball court, indoor gym, cycling track and climbing wall, for free use by Decathlon members.
The company has said it continues to look for suitable retail space to allow it expand into other Irish cities, including Cork, Galway Waterford and elsewhere in Dublin.
Elena Pecos, CEO at Decathlon Ireland, said today that the company was excited to be opening its second store in Ireland.
"Sports lovers in the area will get the full experience of Decathlon, with affordable products across 70 sports," she added.
