Four-time Irish Open location, Druids Glen Hotel and Golf Resort, is to reopen its main golf course and new clubhouse on June 1st, following a €10m investment.

The Druids Glen course has been restored and upgraded during a 16-month long programme of works.

Over 90,000 square metres of topsoil was stripped and replaced during the period, while the greens were rebuilt.

A new €1.3m irrigation system was also installed and 26,000 square metres of pathways were upgraded.

The development means the course are now 7,222-yard par-72 course, which is built to USGA standards.

"We wanted to take advantage of the technological advances that have emerged in the agronomical world in the past few decades," said Marcus Doyle, Golf Director, Druids Glen Hotel and Golf Resort.

"Our approach was really led by studying the impacts that nature has had, which has helped us to develop effective strategies for positively shaping the new course."

Druids Glen was originally designed by Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock and is built on the grounds of the 16th century Woodstock House.

Today the hotel and resort are owned by the Neville Hotel Group, which also owns hotels in Dun Laoghaire, Kilkenny and Waterford.

"We have made a significant financial commitment to the renovation of Druids Glen Golf Course and Clubhouse, with the aim of bringing it to the very top of the list of world-class golf courses," said Seamus Neville, Owner of The Neville Hotel Group

"This included rebuilding the greens, which is expected to result in perfect surfaces and modernised tweaks."

"We believe that the renovations have elevated the resort to a new level, and we can't wait to see the impact they'll have on our guests and the local community."
