Albert Manifold, the chief executive of buildings materials group CRH, has joined the board of Dublin-based engineering company Mercury Engineering as a non-executive director.

Mercury builds and manages complex engineering and construction projects for the some of the world's leading corporations.

It operates across sectors including Enterprise Data Centres, Advanced Technology, Life Sciences, Fire Protection, Technical Support Services, Healthcare and Building Services.

Eoin Vaughan, CEO of Mercury, said the company was delighted that Mr Manifold has joined the Board.

"His leadership skills, global experience, and market knowledge will enhance our boardroom. Albert's appointment is an important step in Mercury's strategy to grow our offering, drive ever higher standards and provide solutions to our clients in an increasingly complex world," he added.

Albert Manifold said he as admired Mercury's well-deserved reputation for many years.

"I look forward to using my experience to play a part in its continued success," he added.

Headquartered in Ireland and formed from a merger of Cement Limited and Roadstone in 1970, CRH is now a major player in construction globally. It manufactures and supplies a wide range of products for the construction industry.
