Up to 1,000 companies are expected to take part in National Workplace Wellbeing Day which will be marked tomorrow.

The day sees businesses across Ireland providing a range of health and wellbeing activities in the workplace with a focus on supports that will benefit employees' social, mental, and physical wellbeing.

As part of this year's event, business group Ibec has launched the "Top 100 Companies Leading in Wellbeing" index in association with the Business & Finance media group.

The index recognises the top 100 businesses of all sizes for their exceptional contribution to employees' social, mental, and physical wellbeing.

The six companies presented with best-in-class 'KeepWell' awards are

Company of the Year (SME) - Horse Racing Ireland
Company of the Year (Large) - Oracle EMEA
Best in Class Mental Health - William Fry
Best in Class Leadership - Fexco
Best in Class Nutrition - Teva Pharmaceuticals Ireland Ltd
Best in Class Physical Health - Cork County Council

Brent Pope, mental health advocate and rugby pundit, was also honoured for his outstanding contribution for his work in promoting mental health awareness and understanding.

Ibec CEO Danny McCoy congratulated the companies included in the top 100 index.

"These are companies that have consistently demonstrated their strategic approach to and understanding of wellbeing in the workplace," Mr McCoy said.

"We understand that a positive, proactive approach to the promotion of mental and physical wellbeing can lead to benefits for individuals and organisations, including improvements in productivity, employee engagement and reduced levels of absenteeism," he added.
