Energy company SSE Airtricity is to credit all its domestic customers with a €35 payment.
It will be applied automatically to 247,000 customer accounts from today.
In total the scheme amounts to €8.6 million and uses the company's profits from the 2023 financial year.
It follows on from a commitment the company made in which it said it would forgo all profits in 2023 to support customers through the cost-of-living crisis.
Additionally, the company set aside funds for various support programmes that aimed to alleviate financial pressures for customers.
Last October, the company raised its prices for customers, with electricity bills increasing by over 35%, and gas bills increasing by 39%.
In its half-year results, its parent company SSE said that SSE Airtricity made an operating profit of €17m , up from a loss of €3.4m in the same time period in 2021.
Managing Director of SSE Energy Customer Solutions, Nikki Flanders, said: "At SSE we are acutely aware of the impact of the ongoing cost of living and energy crises and how they have impacted families across Ireland".
"Supporting our customers has been a key focus for us throughout the crisis and, as a responsible business, we believe that not making a profit in this crisis and giving back to our customers was absolutely the right thing to do," she said.
"The €35 we are giving back today represents all of the profit we made as an energy supplier returned on customers' bills; this means we have provided energy to customers during this difficult time 'at cost,'" she added.
SSE Airtricity have stated that any customers who have concerns about their energy costs or who are experiencing financial difficulties should contact the company.
