Facebook parent company Meta has announced that Anne O'Leary will take on the responsibility of Head of Office at Meta Ireland.

This will be in addition to her role as a Vice President in the company's EMEA Global Business Group division.

Last month, Meta announced that its Ireland boss Rick Kelley was to leave the social media firm.

In November last year, Meta announced 11,000 job losses globally which resulted in more than 300 job cuts in Ireland.

The company now employs around 2,600 people here.

In March, Meta announced a further round of redundancies which resulted in around 50 job cuts at its Irish recruitment division and less than 20 layoffs in the firm's Irish-based data centre team.

It is feared that a higher number of Irish-based staff will be impacted by expected redundancies in Meta's business groups next month.

In Anne O'Leary's current role at Meta she leads the sales team working with medium sized businesses across Europe, Middle-East and Africa.

The Head of Meta Ireland responsibility will see Ms O'Leary working alongside the leadership team at Meta Ireland on matters relating to the Irish office, which is the company's international headquarters.

She will also work on governance and will lead the implementation of the company's future strategy.

"I'm delighted to be appointed Head of Meta Ireland and I’m very excited to work with an amazing leadership team to foster the fantastic culture of collaboration, innovation, inclusivity and diversity at Meta in Ireland," Ms O'Leary said.

"I'm looking forward to leading the team in Ireland who contribute important work to our company’s success," she added.

Ms O'Leary will take on the added responsibility of Head of Meta Ireland on Monday 1 May.

She was previously the CEO of Vodafone Ireland.
