Sharon McCooey, the Country Manager for Linkedin Ireland, has today announced that she is retiring from the company after working there for 13 years.
Ms McCooey will remain in her role until the end of June.
She originally joined LinkedIn in Dublin in 2010 as the first person in the CFO team based outside of the US with a team of just three in a co-working space.
Since then she has scaled the company's operations in Ireland where over 2,000 people work in its EMEA and LATAM headquarters at Wilton Park.
The company's offices now span two sites across a combined 283,000 square feet in Dublin city centre. Its One Wilton office was opened in late 2022, while its Wilton Place building was launched in 2017.
Today LinkedIn has over two million members in Ireland.
The company said the process to appoint a new Country Manager is underway and Sharon McCooey's successor will be announced in due course.
In a post to staff today, Sharon McCooey she has been very fortunate to call Linkedin her dream job for 13 years.
"It has been the icing on the cake of my 35 year professional career," she added.
She said that LinkedIn was in its infancy when she joined in 2010 with just 78 million members, and only a small footprint of employees and customers outside of the US.
"In those early days, it was just me and three colleagues in Dublin. How things have changed. Now there are over 900 million members - with over 2 million in Ireland - with more than 80% of our member growth coming from outside the US," she said.
"It has been a remarkable period, and I feel very lucky to have played a role from humble beginnings, hiring initial employees, to opening our wonderful Dublin campus space, and to this year marking our 20th anniversary," she said.
"It is now time to hand over to another lucky person, a job I would recommend in a heartbeat," she added.
She said she plans to fulfill a long held promise to herself to travel.
"For starters, I will be back on my bike with my friends from Paris2Nice," she added.
