Insulation materials company Kingspan has reduced its key CO2 emissions by over a quarter in the past three years.
The Cavan based business has also increased its rainwater harvesting capacity by 26% and reduced the volume of waste it sends to landfill by 42%.
The progress is outlined in the firm's third annual report tracking the implementation of its 10-year sustainability plan, Planet Passionate.
"I am immensely proud to see our Planet Passionate programme evolving and maturing and I am confident that our talented and passionate teams across our business will do their utmost to help Kingspan play a key role in the transition to a net-zero emissions built environment," said chief executive of Kingspan, Gene Murtagh.
Increasingly investors are demanding to see firm evidence that firms are making meaningful progress towards decarbonisation and other tangible sustainability targets.
Kingspan says it is targeting a 90% reduction in scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and so far it has achieved a 26% cut compared to the base year of 2020.
Scope 1 emissions are those produced directly sources that the company controls itself, while Scope 2 come from purchased electricity and heat used by the business.
Scope 3 encompasses emissions that it is indirectly responsible for, up and down its value chain.
Kingspan said it continues to make progress towards verified science-based target for the reduction of scope 3 emissions by 42% by 2030.
This, it said, involves continuing to pursue the decarbonisation of raw materials sourced from other suppliers.
The group also introduced an internal carbon charge of €70 per tonne of CO2 in January.
Renewable energy use by the firm has risen from 19.5% to 33.4% compared to 2020.
Last year Kingspan also recycled the equivalent of 803 million waste plastic bottles in its production processes.
It also reduced waste to landfill by 7,814 tonnes.
"It’s a testament to the enduring efforts of our colleagues that we completed over 100 projects in 2022," said Bianca Wong, Head of Sustainability of Kingspan Group.
"We will continue to build on our progress to date and aim to further accelerate our strategies in the coming years."
