The National Treasury Management Agency said it plans to hold a bond auction on Thursday March 9 - its only auction planned for the first quarter of 2023.

In a statement, the NTMA said the auction will go ahead subject to market conditions.

Details of the auction will be announced on Monday March 6, it added.

The NTMA yesterday raised €3.5 billion through a 20 year "green" bond, the proceeds of which must be used for environmental and sustainable development projects and which attracts investors from funds which specialise in this kind of investment.

The Irish Sovereign Green Bond, which matures in October 2043, attracted €35 billion in orders from just under 300 investors. The yield, or rate, on the bond was 3.106%.

The NTMA has indicated that it intends to raise between €7 billion and €11 billion this year.
