Revenue confirmed today that the first payments under the Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme (TBESS) have been issued.

It said that tax compliant businesses who have already submitted claims through the claims portal will see payments arriving in their bank accounts before the weekend.

Revenue will continue to process TBESS payments over the Christmas period.

The Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme (TBESS) was announced in the Budget and aims to assist businesses with their energy costs during the winter months.

To date over 1,800 businesses, who are registered for the TBESS, have had claims approved and will receive payments with a combined value of €4.8m over the coming days.

A further 900 businesses have begun, but not fully completed, the claims process, Revenue said in a statement.

Revenue reminded businesses today that to receive a payment under the TBESS, all the required steps have to be completed.

Revenue can only make a payment where all the claim information has been supplied, the required declaration that the qualifying conditions of the scheme are satisfied has been made and the claim submitted.
