The euro zone almost closed its current account deficit in October, European Central Bank data showed today, likely thanks to cheaper energy imports.

The euro zone's current account deficit narrowed to €400m from €8 billion in September and over €20 billion in August.

Smaller net imports of goods accounted for the bulk of the change.

Energy prices have been falling since their summer peak thanks to milder weather and higher-than-expected stocks among other factors.
