A further €18m is to be provided to the haulage sector by the Government to help hauliers with high energy costs.
The Department of Transport is proposing paying between €200 and €1,200 per vehicle, depending on the numbers being operated by each operator.
"As we look towards 2023, fuel costs remain at high levels and the wider economic landscape remains uncertain," said Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan.
"In September, at the time of Budget 2023, I announced that further supports for hauliers were being considered."
"My department has undertaken significant work, together with partners across Government, in recent months and I am very pleased to announce today that we expect that a new support scheme for the licensed haulage sector will be delivered in early 2023 which will be designed to respond more acutely to the nature of the haulage business here."
It is expected that the overall level of support will be the same as that provided by the previous Licensed Haulage Emergency Support Scheme.
It offered €100 per week, for eight weeks, for each eligible heavy goods vehicle authorised on the licence of a road haulage operator as of March 11th.
Full details of the new scheme will be finalised and communicated in the new year.
However, it will require State aid approval from the European Commission.
The previous scheme saw over €15.6 million paid out to around 3,080 operators, representing around 80% of licensed operators.
While oil prices have fallen in recent months they still remain elevated compared to before the Ukraine war broke out.
