Amid the cost of living crisis, a new survey shows that consumers are shopping around for better value.

The research from Aviva Insurance Ireland reveals that 67% are searching for lower prices on their car insurance.

56% of consumers said they are shopping around for the best value deals from electricity and gas suppliers, while the same number are searching for lower prices on their broadband plans.

Meanwhile, 52% of those surveyed said they are reviewing their home insurance policy, while 38% are looking at their TV package and 32% are searching for better deals on their healthcare policies.

Just 11% of the 1,000 consumers surveyed said they are not shopping around for any of these items.

"It is evident from our research findings that consumers are actively shopping around for better value when renewing various policies and other service providers," said Billy Shannon of Aviva.

"Interestingly, men are slightly more likely to switch home insurance provider than women for any amount of saving, and more women than men say that it is not just about the money but how complicated the switching process is," he added.
