A new report from Vodafone has found that many businesses are struggling to cope with disruption and adapting to changing demands.

The study, 'Fit for the Future', surveyed 250 Irish businesses and found that over half of firms regard their performance for addressing top risks within their business as being ‘under-performing’ or ‘average’.

More than 30% of Irish firms highlighted high-speed broadband as the top technology that would enable their business plans.

Cybersecurity was highlighted as a priority area but only 28% of firms said they had a clear plan for cybersecurity and have implemented most of their planned actions.

Talent shortages are seen as the biggest risk for businesses overall in Ireland, followed by economic risk and uncertainty, a public health crisis and climate change/environmental risks.

Launching the new report, Vodafone Ireland announced that it is to provide supports to small and medium businesses (SMEs) including six months free broadband and six months free cybersecurity solutions.

The package of measures is worth €900,000 and will be available to the first 1,000 new or existing business customers who sign up.

"High-speed connectivity and cyber resilience are vital elements to enable SMEs digitally, so I am delighted to launch a range of supports to help businesses during this difficult period," said Managing Director of Vodafone Ireland Business, Sinead Bryan.
