More than 80% of workers who received pandemic supports were still in PAYE employment by the middle of this year, according to new data from the Central Statistics Office.

However the survey also found that recipients of pandemic employment supports were more likely to have changed jobs than those who did not receive supports.

Just over 60% of Wage Subsidy Scheme recipients, and just under 40% of Pandemic Unemployment Payment receipients, had the same primary employment in June 2022 as they did at the start of 2020.

That compares to 70% of workers who did not receive any pandemic employment supports.

For businesses that availed of pandemic income supports, more than 39% had more payroll employees by June 2022 than they did in the first three months of 2020.

By comparison, just under 27% of firms that did not avail of the same supports had more payroll employees over the same time-frame.

However, more than one-fifth of Accommodation and Food firms that availed of income supports had no paid employees by June 2022.
