Bank of Ireland said today that one million transactions were processed in the first year of its partnership with An Post.

59% of all transactions were to lodge cash, 34% were to withdraw cash and 6% were involved in lodging cheques, the bank said in a statement today.

The joint venture between Bank of Ireland and An Post allows customers to carry out banking services at local post offices nationwide, with over 100,000 transactions a month now being recorded.

Bank of Ireland customers can make cash lodgements and withdrawals at over 900 post offices across the country.

Susan Russell, Director, Retail Ireland, Bank of Ireland, said it was great to see the bank's partnership with An Post flourish since it first started just over a year ago.

"With a million transactions in just 12 months, the partnership has been an attractive one for many of our customers particularly for cash services. We look forward to building on this early success in the period ahead," Ms Russell said.

Debbie Byrne, Managing Director of An Post Retail, said that reaching the milestone of one million transactions underlines the company's success in extending the range of services customers can access at their local post office.

"Our strategy of making post offices a key location for everyday banking is a perfect fit for this partnership with Bank of Ireland. We will build on this partnership to support our customers and communities who rely on the ability to use and deposit cash daily," she added.
