Waterford-based IT security and telecoms company HCS has today announced an investment of €1.13m as it creates five new jobs to accelerate its growth in cybersecurity.

HCS also said it will provide a new Fortinet Security Operations Centre (SOC) as-a-service to customers.

This uses AI and SOC analysts to alert of any incidents on organisations' networks 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The company said it will recruit technical engineers across cybersecurity in response to increased demand from customers.

The company, which partners with the likes of Microsoft, Fortinet, Dell and Zultys, said its secure solutions have already been adopted by customers including Connolly’s Redmills and Avis Budget Ireland.

Dan Hegarty, Head of Sales at HCS, said the investment means the company can scale up its capabilities in the cybersecurity space and bring its service to progressive organisations that take security seriously.

"We are seeing a huge demand for more secure solutions among our customers. Covid-19 has accelerated security demands around remote working and cloud in particular, while geopolitical moves have resulted in a rise in cyberattacks in recent years," he added.
