Social media company TikTok has agreed a deal with IPUT Real Estate to let the entire Tropical Fruit Warehouse development in Dublin on a long-term lease.

The Tropical Fruit Warehouse is an 85,000 square foot six-storey river-front office building located in the Dublin south docklands.

IPUT said the development is the last remaining original warehouse on Dublin's quays which dates back to 1892 and was used for the importation of tropical fruit into Ireland.

It said the building has been delivered to the highest sustainability credentials in line with IPUT's responsible investment strategy.

Earlier this month, the Irish Times reported that TikTok had pulled out of talks to rent over 16,000 square metres of office space on Sir John Rogerson's Quay in the docklands.

But the company is proceeding with plans to move to the former An Post Sorting Office where most of the 1,000 new hires it is currently recruiting will be based.

Niall Gaffney, IPUT Real Estate CEO, said that today's deal shows that the demand from global occupiers for "high-quality, sustainable office space" in Dublin remains resilient.

"We are long-term investors in Dublin real estate, delivering market leading office and logistics developments and we continue to see robust demand for these buildings," he added.
