Ireland's richest person, Pallonji Mistry, has died at the age of 93.

Mr Mistry became an citizen of Ireland in 2003, through his Dublin-born wife Patsy Perin Dubash.

He was consistently ranked as the richest person in Ireland, with his wealth recently valued at $15 billion on the Forbes Rich List.

Bloomberg's Billionaires Index puts his wealth at $29 billion.

Mr Mistry was born in India in 1929.

He was the son of Shapoorji Pallonji, who established the construction and engineering firm Shapoorji Pallonji Group, or SP Group.

Pallonji Mistry eventually became its chairman, and led the company's expansion into many new markets.

He also spear-headed investments into other areas, including a significant stake in India’s Tata Motors.

However the relationship between Tata and SP Group broke down with one of Pallonji’s sons, Cyrus, being ousted at Tata’s chairman in 2016.

Both of Pallonji and Patsy’s sons, Cyrus and Shapoor, are also Irish citizens.

Shapoor is the current chairman of SP Group.
