The co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of banking app Revolut, Vlad Yatsenko, has said that Ireland is a hugely important market and a tremendous source of talent for the company.

Delivering an address to Financial Services Ireland in Dublin, Mr Yatsenko said that Revolut has almost two million customers in Ireland and currently employs 140 people here.

He said the company is continuing to invest in new services for both retail customers and businesses.

He also called for greater collaboration within the financial services sector.

"I think it's so important that we work with regulators to collectively solve the challenges of this financial new world.

"Protecting the status quo is not an option," he said.

In his address, Mr Yatsenko also made reference to the war in his home country of Ukraine.

"I want to say thank you to Ireland. You are a neutral country and yet you have shown every possible support for the people of Ukraine," he said.

Last year, Vlad Yatsenko donated €1.1 million to The Late Late Toy Show Appeal following technical difficulties with the Revolut app.

"We have learned and improved and we are very confident we will make it happen seamlessly this year," he said in his address.

More than €6.5m was raised by the Toy Show Appeal and today Mr Yatsenko visited one of the projects that benefitted from the appeal, the Early Learning Initiative at the National College of Ireland in Dublin.
