An Post has taken the top spot in the rankings of the most reputable firms and organisations in the state, followed by the Irish League of Credit Unions and retailer, Lidl.
The thirteenth annual Ireland RepTrak 2022 study conducted on behalf of the Reputations Agency is based on the perceptions of over 6,500 members of the public.
It measures the level of trust, respect, admiration and esteem the public has for 100 organisations in Ireland as well as accounting for other reputation, brand and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) indicators.
The study was conducted between the start of the year and March 14th.
An Post's score registered at 83.5 followed very closely by the Credit Unions at 83.4.
"An Post's core purpose is to act for the common good, improving the lives of people in Ireland, now and for generations to come," the citation read.
"They recognise that their operations impact every county, community, household, and business in Ireland, and they utilised their network to support all their stakeholders throughout the pandemic," it added.
The League of Credit Unions was credited with being a 'cornerstone of local communities' with over 3.6 million members.
"The public acknowledged the trust that members place in their local credit union and their friendly people focused approach," it said.
Following Lidl in third place, Boots, Failte Ireland, Aldi, Bord Bia, Samsung, Toyota and the Blackrock Clinic made up the rest of the top ten.

"Having a Positive influence on society is deemed to be the most important attribute amongst the 23 attributes that build a reputation across the 100 organisations studied this year," Niamh Boyle, Managing Director of the Reputations Agency said.
"This can mean advancing agendas to move society in a more positive direction, whether that is investing in the economy, encouraging greater diversity and inclusion, advocating for the vulnerable in society, having a strong sense of purpose, or being committed to making our society a better place by leaving a positive impact," she added.
This year's study saw a subsiding of the bounce that many organisations and sectors benefited from during Covid.
Overall, 35 organisations recorded a fall in reputation this year which is accounted for by a 'normalisation' of attitudes in the aftermath of the pandemic.
Just six organisations recorded an overall 'excellent' score of over 80, while ten received a 'weak' score.
35 were deemed average or moderate while 49 were considered to have strong reputations.
On a sectoral basis, the automotive industry topped the rankings while professional services recorded the strongest increase - up 3 points.
The energy retail sector saw the most significant decline with a widespread perception among consumers that recent price increases were not completely justified, despite upwards pressure on energy prices globally.
