Focus on staff's physical and mental health on Workplace Wellbeing Day

There are increasing demands for employee health and wellbeing supports, according to business group Ibec.

This demand comes amid a competitive jobs market in which talent attraction and retention remain key priorities for businesses.

Today is National Workplace Wellbeing Day which sees up to 1,000 employers across the public and private sector hosta range of activities to promote resilience and the importance of social connections in the workplace.

Programmes being offered throughout the day include meditation sessions, fitness classes and team lunches.

"It is clear from engaging with member companies that awareness of the importance of good workplace mental health and wellbeing has never been higher," Ibec CEO Danny McCoy said

"Coupled with this is a jobs market underpinned by an ever-increasing competition for talent. Indeed, Ibec's research shows that talent retention is the top priority for the majority of companies in Ireland," he said.
