Turnover at the Irish arm of consulting group KPMG rose 16% last year to €504m.

The firm said the growth was recorded across all its service areas and driven by demand from an increasing client base.

"Over the last year, our clients continued to be faced with an ever-changing but exciting business landscape and they looked to the expertise and capabilities of our people to help them navigate the challenges and capture the opportunities arising," said KPMG Managing Partner Seamus Hand.

Mr Hand added that he is optimistic about the outlook for the remainder of this year and beyond, but warned economic challenges around inflation, talent shortages and competitiveness would required the "full attention" of policy makers.

KPMG Ireland now employs nearly 4,000 people, up 16% on 2020, after it recruited 1,000 additional staff.

"The needs of our clients are evolving at a phenomenal pace requiring us to invest in broadening our capability to partner with them for what's next in their success," he said.

"This investment is primarily in people and we have added over 1000 new people to our team in 2021."

"This is a mix of experienced and graduate hires and ensures that we can continue to bring the best, most innovative and diverse thinking to the opportunities and challenges currently facing our clients and stakeholders."

The business has also grown through acquisition and it recently added construction consultancy KMCS.

The firm also recently announced that it plans to move in 2026 to a new 26,800 sq m headquarters building in Dublin on Harcourt Street.

"We are investing significantly in our infrastructure and technology platforms to support new levels of collaboration and innovation while also facilitating the latest emerging ways of working," Mr Hand said.

The firm also published its second Impact Report on its performance on meeting its Environmental, Social and Governance commitments.
