New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that wholesale energy products increased by 227% in March compared to the same month last year, on the back of a jump in wholesale electricity prices.
Wholesale electricity prices soared by 302.5% in March of this year compared to the same time last year, while gas oil increased by 46.1%.
Today's CSO figures show that overall monthly factory gate prices increased by 2.5% in March of this year.
The annual percentage change showed an increase of 4.4% in March of this year, compared to an increase of 2.8% in the year to February 2022.
