SIPTU has announced industrial action at the electronic component manufacturer Lisk Ireland in Gort, County Galway.
Union members will place pickets at the plant and hold a one-day work stoppage on Monday.
SIPTU is accusing the company of failing to engage with union representatives on a number of issues of concern to workers.
"Our members were left with no option other than to begin industrial action due to a management refusal to respect a Labour Court recommendation that the company engage in negotiations with their union," said SIPTU organiser Stephen Lavelle.
"Management has ignored several invitations from SIPTU representatives to discuss and resolve a number of concerns that our members have expressed in relation to improving their terms and conditions of employment," he added.
Lisk Ireland said its management team is in regular engagement directly with employees through company meetings, small group discussions and one-to-one discussions.
New York based GW Lisk has been in County Galway since 1979.
The company makes electronic components for the aviation and transport industries.
"GW Lisk has a 112 year history of direct, positive engagement with colleagues on both sides of the Atlantic, which it intends to continue," according to a statement from the company.
