Shannon Airport has announced a new service with Ryanair to the port city of Marseille in the south of France.
The new Ryanair service to Marseille from Shannon will start on May 4 and will operate twice a week from then.
This marks the second new route announcement for the airport in under three weeks after Ryanair said it would start a new route to Barcelona Girona later this month.
The new Marseille service is part of Ryanair's summer schedule which will see over 67 weekly flights from Shannon Airport to 22 destinations this year.
The chief executive of Shannon Group, Mary Considine, said the new route is really positive news for Shannon Airport.
"Having connectivity to France is another win for the region. A service to Marseille from Shannon is fantastic for our passengers, bringing them directly to the southern coast of France near Toulon, St Tropez, Cannes, Monaco and more," Mary Considine said.
"We know that restoring connectivity is important to our airport customers and that is why we have been working hard with our airline partners to create exciting holiday opportunities, like this one," she added.
Transatlantic flights resumed at Shannon Airport for the first time in almost two years yesterday, after services were decimated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
A daily Aer Lingus service to Boston took off this yesterday, while the New York service from Shannon resumes today.
