Danske Bank staff in Northern Ireland are to become the latest bank workers to receive a pay increase as a result of the rising cost of living.
Following negotiations led by the Financial Services Union, Danske employees here are to get a 3.5% increase this year.
This includes an additional 1% above the 2.5% that had previously been agreed last year for 2022.
That 2.5% was part of a three year pay deal reached by the union and the bank.
The deal also included no compulsory redundancies.
But negotiations reopened on a possible enhancement of the deal after the cost of living began to soar.
Agreement has now been reached between the union and the bank that will see an enhanced increase paid this year from April 1.
"The FSU have argued for inflation proofed pay increases since our Conference in Belfast last November," said Mandy La Combre, Senior Industrial Relations officer with the Financial Services Union.
"Pay increases play a significant role in protecting workers from rising costs of essential everyday items such as foods and home heating."
"We are set to face the toughest cost of living squeeze in many years as bills soar."
Earlier this month staff at Bank of Ireland were granted a 7.5% pay increase over the next two years.
Employees will get a 4% rise this year and 3.5% next year if the proposed deal is accepted.
