Carolan Lennon has told the board of AIB today that she intends to resign as a director and as a senior independent director at the bank at the end of June this year.

After four years as CEO of telecoms company Eir, Ms Lennon also stepped down from the role earlier this year.

In a statement, AIB chairman Jim Pettigrew paid tribute to Ms Lennon, who was one of the bank's longest-serving directors.

He said Ms Lennon had made a significant contribution to the board since her appointment in October 2016 during which time she has served on the Board Risk Committee, the Sustainable Business Advisory Committee, and the Nomination and Corporate Governance Committee.

"She has also performed the role of Senior Independent Director since April 2020. On behalf of the Board and the Group, I wish to record our sincere gratitude for her commitment, insights and contributions over the past number of years and wish her the very best for the future," he added.
