The US Trade Representative, Katherine Tai, has said that President Biden and the US Congress 'care very deeply' about supporting the Good Friday Agreement and that the Biden Administration is encouraging both the EU and the UK to find a solution on a trading agreement ‘that is durable and maintains peace.’

Ambassador Tai was speaking at a webinar hosted by the Institute of International and European Affairs this afternoon.

Ambassador Tai said there is a ‘deep level of interest and investment’ in the Good Friday Agreement on the US side and ‘what happens in these negotiations will always be on the radar here.’

She said both the EU and the UK are ‘very important strategic and economic partners’ of the US and she encouraged both sides to ‘work in good faith and tirelessly’ to find a solution.
