Ryanair is to launch a new route from Ireland West Airport Knock to Birmingham in England from next March.

The new service will operate twice a week from March 2022.

Ryanair said the new route reinforces its commitment to Ireland and the rebuilding of the country's tourism industry, playing a key role in the recovery of local jobs and the economy.

"We are pleased to add this new route to Birmingham as part of Ireland's Summer 2022 schedule, offering our customers yet another amazing European destination to choose from when planning their summer break," commented Ryanair's Director of Commercial, Jason McGuinness.

Ryanair said it was looking ahead to its Summer 2022 schedule and the addition of 65 new B737-8200 "Gamechanger" aircraft to its fleet.

The new planes offer 4% more seats, 16% less fuel and a 40% reduction in noise emissions, which it said makes its summer schedule the most environmentally friendly to date.
