Kingspan Group has announced a new €1.5m five year partnership with humanitarian response agency GOAL, which aims to improve the lives of some of the world's most vulnerable people.
Co Cavan-based Kingspan will support GOAL's work by providing expertise and products, supported by financial contributions, to develop critical infrastructure with sustainability at its core in healthcare and education.
GOAL was founded in 1977 and is headquarter in Dublin. Over the last 40 years, it responded to many of the world's major humanitarian crises and is currently working with vulnerable communities in over 14 countries.
In the first year of the partnership, GOAL and Kingspan will join forces to build a new wing at a key hospital in Puerto Cortes, Honduras.
The project will be implemented by GOAL's humanitarian support staff on the ground using Kingspan's sustainable products and systems to build a new 24-bed ward for general care in the hospital.
The partnership with GOAL is the flagship project in Kingspan's new Planet Passionate Communities programme, which supports projects that provide services for disadvantaged and vulnerable communities while using resources in the most sustainable way possible.
"We are proud to be partnering with GOAL, whose values and mission are so closely aligned with our own. We look forward to working with their team to build more sustainable education and healthcare facilities for those who need them most," Bianca Wong, Kingspan's Global Head of Sustainability, said.
On a local level, businesses across Kingspan Group will allocate resources to support projects in their communities that are aligned with the Planet Passionate ambition of creating a world that is powered by renewable energy, net-zero carbon, manages water sustainably and protects the earth's valuable resources by reducing, re-using and recycling.
