Irish owned retail pharmacy group McCauley has announced a partnership with Guaranteed Irish, a business membership network championing local and multinational businesses operating within Ireland.

McCauley is the first Irish pharmacy chain to partner with the brand.

McCauley supports 550 jobs at 37 locations throughout Ireland as well as its e-commerce store, with an annual business turnover of €90m.

It has branches in Wexford, Dublin, Cork, Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cavan, Meath, Tipperary, Kildare, Wicklow and Kerry.

The company also partners with more than 30 Irish medical, skincare, beauty and wellness brands, which represent approximately 25% of its business.

Tony McEntee, CEO of the pharmacy group, said that supporting local, be it through the company's retailing, partnerships, or employment, has always been one of the group's most important values.

"The impact of Covid coupled with Brexit has created a challenging era for Irish businesses and consumers, which is why it is more important than ever to support Irish and shop local," Mr McEntee said.

He also said the partnership with Guaranteed Irish formalises and deepens its support for Irish suppliers and product.

Guaranteed Irish makes a significant contribution to the Irish economy as a whole and also to local Irish communities in terms of employment, awareness and support.

With the addition of the 37 McCauley pharmacies, Guaranteed Irish now supports almost 2,000 business members, employing 120,000 people throughout Ireland.

Brid O'Connell, the chief executive of Guaranteed Irish, said that as an Irish-owned company, McCauley truly embraces its core values of building up local communities.

"Through the continued support of local jobs, retailing Irish-owned products and partnerships with Irish charities, McCauley has shown their commitment to a better Ireland and we are thrilled to welcome this pillar of the healthcare community to our brand," she added.
