Employers organisation Ibec has said clear guidance will be needed next week to ensure that office working continues to be available to those workers and individuals who have business reasons to avail of it.
Ibec said offices workers and their employers must comply fully with the Work Safely Protocol.
It added that it has been acknowledged in the most recent guidance in the Labour Employer Economic Forum that this has been happening successfully.
Ibec said the majority of offices are currently working at reduced capacity and employers have returned staff on a phased and staggered basis and for specific business reasons, in line with Government guidance.
"Employers will continue to support the safe working protocols and will be more than willing to support the call to re-emphasise all of the hygiene and related safety measures, working with their employees and lead worker representatives," it stated.
The organisation also pointed out that the last period of full remote working was exceptionally difficult for many workers, and that for many, the isolation of full remote had an impact on their mental health and well-being.
"We will need clear guidance next week to ensure that office working continues to be available to those workers and individuals who have business reasons to avail of it," it said.
