Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue said a tour of cattle marts he is undertaking across the country is aimed at meeting farmers to canvass their views on Common Agriculture Policy reforms.

Minister McConalogue said that the climate change and environment challenges in the new CAP programme will come down to farmers and their ability to deliver within the new schemes proposed.

The Minister said that he wants to ensure the CAP programme that is being introduced works well for farm families and their incomes.

He is meeting farmers today in Fermoy in Co Cork and across the country in the coming weeks to discuss these issues with them.
