85% of employers confirm eligibility for EWSS

Revenue says around 85% of businesses currently in receipt of the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme have confirmed their eligibility for the payments.

The Government confirmed in June that the scheme would be extended until the end of the year.

Revenue developed a new eligibility review form which would help companies in determining whether or not they should still be receiving the Covid support money.

The initial deadline to complete and submit the EWSS ERF for June was extended from July 30th to August 15th.

The eligibility review form for July was also due to be submitted on this date.

Over the last number of weeks, Revenue says it contacted 12,300 individual businesses as well as 1,300 agents representing 14,350 employers who had not submitted their ERF by the August 15th deadline.

It confirmed that as of close of business yesterday, almost 85% of businesses had completed their ERF for June.

Almost 70% had completed the forms for both June and July.

In order to be eligible to avail of the EWSS, employers must experience a minimum 30% decline in turnover in the 12 months from January to December this year compared to the same period in 2019 as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.
