An Post Money is extending its financial services offering with the launch of an app for its An Post Money brand and a current account for young people aged between seven and 15.
The app offers customers a better experience to manage their everyday banking needs, according to An Post.
It also said the children's account - Money Mate - will give them financial literacy and independence.
An Post Money Mate comes with a Mastercard Debit Card and special version of the app which gives children and teenagers a digital view of their spending and saving while allowing adults stay in control.
Debbie Byrne, Managing Director of An Post Retail, said the company is committed to offering its customers a better experience to manage their everyday banking needs.
This will allow An Post customers to take control of their finances and build better financial habits.
"The new An Post Money app and Money Mate kids account are industry leading, offering simple and seamless technology built on our trusted brand and unique human touch with our 930 post offices in communities across the country," she added.
Ms Byrne said that new App features will be added over the coming months, including additional budgeting tools supporting consumers to better manage their money and give peace of mind.
An Post Money is becoming a "challenger" in the retail banking space.
It plans to begin providing residential mortgages, through collaboration with an underwriting partner, next year and start lending to SMEs. It already has partnerships in place with AIB and Bank of Ireland.
