Deliveroo has announced plans to expand its food delivery service to Waterford, following strong growth in the first half of the year.
The service will begin on 26 August, as part of its broader expansion plans across Ireland and the UK.
The increased investment in the Irish market will see Deliveroo work with more riders and drivers in the southeast region, in addition to where the company already operates in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.
Deliveroo, which launched in Ireland in 2015, works with more than 1,000 self-employed riders across these cities.
The company said the move into Waterford will open new work opportunities for people in the local community.
Over 1,800 restaurants across Ireland are currently partnered with Deliveroo.
The company said it is in the process of signing up potential restaurant partners in Waterford.
Deliveroo saw a 50% increase in the number of restaurants joining Deliveroo in Ireland since March 2020.
"In addition to creating valuable opportunities for riders, our arrival in Waterford will be a boost to local restaurants who will be able to reach new customers and grow their businesses through food delivery," said Paddy Quinlan, Growth Manager for Deliveroo Ireland.
