Pat McCann appointed Deputy Chair of the National Maternity Hospital

Pat McCann is to take up the role of Deputy Chair of the National Maternity Hospital.

The former CEO of Dalata Hotel Group was elected to the position by NMH Committee members last night.

It follows the recent retirement of Nicholas Kearns.

Mr McCann, also a former CEO of the Jurys Doyle Group, has held numerous board positions.

In the health sector, has was a director of the Irish Heart foundation for six years and Chair of the Whitfield Clinic for seven years.

"I am very pleased to welcome Pat McCann as our new Deputy Chair, bringing his extensive experience at a critical time for the National Maternity Hospital," Professor Shane Higgins, Master of the NMH said.

"He has a proven track record in chairing complex organisations and dealing with corporate governance issues," he added.

"It is an honour to be involved in an institution that makes such an important contribution to serving the healthcare needs of Irish women and babies," Mr McCann said.

"I look forward to engaging constructively with all key stakeholders over the weeks and months ahead."
