Two in every five child benefit payments to parents of 17 year olds have not been made due to an administrative problem, the Dáil has heard.
"40% of payments to parents of 17 year olds have been impacted", Minister Eamon Ryan said, but said all other payments have been made.
Speaking during Questions on Promised Legislation, he said the Department of Social Protection is working to have the payments "restored and reissued inside the next two weeks".
He was responding to Fianna Fáil's Cormac Devlin who said that some parents of older teenagers children have not received child benefit payments arising from to a problem with a form used to confirm eligibility for the payment.
