The National Asset Management Agency said it has today completed a €300m transfer to the Exchequer.

NAMA said this marks the third payment to the Exchequer from its lifetime surplus with cash transfers totalling €2.2 billion already completed.

It said it plans to make payments of €1 billion to the Exchequer during this year.

Earlier this month, NAMA increased its lifetime surplus projection to €4.25 billion and said it had made corporation tax payments to date totalling €400m.

It said it will make additional transfers from its surplus over the coming years. All surplus transfers are subject to market conditions, it added.

Brendan McDonagh, NAMA's chief executive, said today's payment brings total transfers so far in 2021 to €500m.

"These transfers are made possible by NAMA's continued strong performance and profitability. Our projected lifetime contribution to the State, including tax paid, now stands at €4.65 billion and we will continue to make valuable payments to the Exchequer over the coming months and years," Mr McDonagh added.

NAMA, set up in 2009 to clean the property crash related debts from the balance sheets of the main Irish banks, said earlier this month that it had recorded an after-tax profit of €192m last year, its tenth consecutive year in which a surplus was achieved.
